Guild Invitation

We believe in vetting new members. Here are the steps that we have been following before issuing invites.

Step 1
Make sure there is a thorough conversation about why this person wants to be a Shadow Raven. How did they hear of us? Explain that we are social raiding guild that has members of all ages (some children of members, teens, college students, thirtysomethings and those of us who remember the 70's). Discuss how guild chat should not involve religion or politics and generally be a PG-13 status. Explain to prospective members that for Kara runs most dps spots are filled and we have some dps guildies who are still waiting for their chance to go. They still want to join?

Step 2
Ask in guild chat about the interested person. Do any of our guildies know this person? Is this toon on an ignore list? If a guild member has a concern, then discuss with that guildie and other officers their concerns. Is this new person going to add strife/drama? Do all of this in guild chat, not whisper. We are an open guild.

Step 3
Check out the person's guild history at www.warcraftrealms.com. If the perspective member is a habitual guild hopper, this is a red flag. You now have to check with a few of the former GM's about the person about their previous guild behavior. Guild hopping, i.e. changing guilds from week to week or monthly, should be a very large red flag. If this is the case, wait until more officers are on to discuss the interested party prior to inviting. Hopefully what you find is a person who has stayed in guilds for some time, a person with a stable guild history.

Step 4
An officer is responsible for their invite. If all goes well and we have a new guild member, the officer should make a message in the officer note tab about who invited and if the character is a friend of a current guild member (example: Grey invite; rl friend of Sol).

Step 5
If and when it does happen that a new guild member goes astray, then the officer who invited the problematic new guildie must be the one to remove their own invite and deal with the aftermath.

Ultimately we want to invite people who will be a good fit: fun, casual and quirky pirat
